Mr. Allen Ponder

October 19, 1943 – May 16, 2024

Mr. Allen Ponder, 80, was born on October 19, 1943, to the late Mr. Earnest, Sr., and Mrs. Mattie Bell Page Ponder in Screven County, Georgia.

He received his early Christian upbringings at the Oak Grove Baptist Church of Sylvania, GA.  He was educated at Arnette Elementary School and Central High School of Screven County.  He served his country honorably for two years in the United States Army, and he was employed as a farmer.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Lucille Cox Ponder.

On Thursday May 16, 2024, Mr. Allen Ponder departed this life at the Optim Medical Center of Sylvania, GA, following a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Lucille Cox Ponder.  His life and memory will forever live in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him.

Fond and loving memories will forever be cherished by (1) Daughter: Arizona Ponder, Atlanta, GA (2) Sons: James “Webbie” Thomas (Arlene) and Jammie Ponder both of Atlanta, GA; (4) Sisters: Ethel Mae Cummings of Statesboro, GA, Ida Mae Ponder, Evelyn Taylor (Eddie), and Mattie Fulcher (Johnnie) all of Sylvania, GA; (1) Brother: Earnest Ponder, Jr.; (6) Grandchildren, (7) Great grandchildren, a special friend: Ms. Bernice Jones, along with a host of nieces, nephews,  cousins, and other relatives and sorrowing friends.
