Mrs. Annie Mae Nesbitt Parrish
October 8, 1928 – September 9, 2025
Annie Mae Nesbitt-Parrish was born on October 8, 1928, to Elenora and Lewis Nesbitt in Coahoma
County, Mississippi. She completed her education at Jamestown Jr. High in Coahoma County. She
gave her life to Christ at an early age and was Baptized in 1942 by Rev W.L. Washington at Old Mary
Bethel Baptist Church. She relocated to Miami, Fl. In 1946. There she met Mr. Sidney T. Parrish and
after a brief courtship they were married in 1947. She continued serving the Lord and joined St. Luke
Baptist Church in Miami, Fl. where she was the superintendent of Sunday school. She later joined
Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 1955 where she served as a deaconess, teacher and was a
noted speaker. She remained at Jordan Grove until relocating to Sylvania Georgia and joined Dickey
Grove Baptist Church.
She attended Miami Dade College where she obtained a degree in Nursing in 1979. Annie was
employed at Mercy Hospital where she was the CPR instructor and volunteered in various areas of
healthcare. She retired from Mercy hospital after 30 years of service. Several years later, she returned
to Miami Dade College and received a degree in Psychology. Post retirement Mr. and Mrs. Parrish
relocated to Sylvania, Georgia to enjoy the remainder of their years together. After 77 years of
marriage, Sidney Parrish passed away at the age of 97 after a long illness.
Annie Parrish remained faithful and continued enjoying life until she fell ill. She persisted and
pressed on. She fought a good fight and finished her course. On Tuesday morning September 9,
2025, the Lord called Annie home.
Annie leaves to mourn, her children: Lorene Price, (Cleve 1990) Miramar, Florida, Ella Jean Hayes,
Millen, Georgia, Connie Vassar (William), Sylvania Georgia, Algier Christie, (George 2020) Miami,
FL., Vernette Parrish (2024), Sidney R. Parrish, Sylvania, Georgia, Ruby Jean Parrish (passed away
as an infant 1948), Traicy Senat (Ebenson) Pembroke Pines, Florida, 1 surviving brother Lewis
Nesbitt (Adella), Miami, Fl., 5 sisters and 2 brothers who preceded her in death, 14 grandchildren, 30
great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and sorrowing friends.
