ANNIE LOIS ROBERTS, 99, was born July 22, 1922, in Bowman, GA, to the late Mr. Ernest and Bertha Oliver. She was one of eight children including: Juanita and Thelma, and she was preceded in death by Artie, Earnest, Boyd, Gilbert, and Hart.
She was an aspiring and studious young lady realizing the value of a good education at a very young age. She spent countless hours planning and dreaming of her career and future. After high school, she attended Savannah State University earning a bachelor's degree in Education and later earned her master's degree in Home Economics from NYU.
She worked in Sylvania, GA, as a teacher and met the love her life Mr. Cleo Roberts. The two wed at the home of her beloved parents in Hartwell, GA, and were married for 46 years. No children were born of this union, but she spent a lot of time nurturing, tutoring, and spoiling other people's children.
Her career spanned over 30 years at Robert Middle School educating her students the life skills they so desperately needed to prosper and survive.
She loved her family and held special bonds with them from the youngest to the oldest of her nieces and nephews. She was always happy to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.
She was a faithful member of the St. John's Baptist Church where she was actively involved in the church's sisterhood ministry. She was a pillar in the community with a listening ear and support for anyone who needed it. She volunteered for many years at Goodwill Industry to help make life better for someone else.
She had a beautiful and loving spirit. She was a kind, thoughtful, phenomenal, and gracious woman. She always said humbly, "Thank You and I love you."
