Mrs. Bernice Roberts Burgest

September 29, 1944 – December 31, 2024

Bernice Roberts, 80, was born to the late Booster and Nollie Mae Roberts on September 29,1944 in Sylvania, GA.  She transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 31. 2024 in Millen, GA.

Later in life she moved to Marathon FL where she met and married Sam Burgest. She was employed with Fisherman Hospital in Marathon until her return to Sylvania, GA.  Bernice was employed at Sylvania Yarn System until the closing of the plant.  She was then employed with Claxton Poultry until retirement.  She enjoyed gardening mostly her flowers, also, watching westerns. She loved to dress diligently and classy when she stepped out.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by a host of sisters and brothers, one of whom was dear to her heart, Eva Matlock.  Also, a grandchild, Chester McBride, III and a great grandchild Gregory Hopkins, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her four children, Terry S. Burgest, Sherry B. Burgest (James L. Young, Sr) of Sylvania, GA, Anna (Chester) McBride of Statesboro, GA and Elton Burgest of Tampa, FL; She also Leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She will always be remembered and never forgotten as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
