Mrs. Bessie Lee Shefton Morell

April 19, 1942 – February 15, 2024

Mrs. Bessie Lee Shefton Morell, 81, was born April 19, 1942, to the late

Mr. Anthony Shefton and Mrs. Elizabeth Rhett Shefton in Shawnee, GA. She was one of eight children.

She attended the public schools of Screven County.  Mrs. Bessie Morell dedicated most of her life to caretaking, but outside of her profession, she found joy in church fellowship. She was a steadfast member of Prosperity Holiness Church in Sylvania, GA, where she actively served in multiple capacities, including usher, choir director, treasurer, fundraiser, and kitchen manager. Mrs. Morell had a profound affection for gospel music, particularly for the music of Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC’s.

On Thursday evening February 15, 2024, Mrs. Bessie Lee Shefton Morell entered into eternal rest at the Optim Medical Center of Sylvania, GA.

Mrs. Bessie loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by two

sisters, Agnes Shefton Scott, and Henrietta Shefton Brooks; three brothers,

Thomas Shefton, Raymond Shefton, and Lucious (Bubba) Shefton.

Sister: Darlene (Prince) Ellison of Sylvania, GA; (1) Brother: James (Josie) Shefton

of Statesboro, GA; three granddaughters: Adreonna, Chelsea, and Tytiyanna;

two grandsons: Adrian (AJ) and Phillippe (PJ); close friends: Alice Mae

Smart and Yvonne Walker, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
