Bethea Mobley Obituary

Bethea Antoinette Coles Mobley was the second child born to Archie Lee & Louise Morgan Coles at Waynesboro Hospital on June 19, 1955.  Her life ended suddenly on April 25, 2022 in Upland CA.

Growing up with her family in Screven County, Bea, as she was affectionately called, developed a love of the Bible.  From an early age, she attended local meetings at the Kingdom Hall and travelled to large conventions with her mother, Louise. No doubt travelling to the 1958 Divine Will International Assembly at Yankee Stadium New York, when she was just a toddler, planted in her heart her love of travel.  During those formative years, she and her family travelled to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York regularly to visit family and friends.  Bea enjoyed being with her sisters and she loved having parties at her Granny Daisy’s house with her cousins and friends. Her father's annual watermelon picnic was a highlight of summer fun for Bethea, her family and neighbors.  Saturday shopping trips with her Mom were added to her happy childhood memories.  Bea completed her schooling and graduated with the class of 1973 at Screven County High.  Soon afterward she started her career at Farmers & Merchants Bank, Sylvania GA and proved to be a loyal employee for over 33 years. She loved getting to know all her neighbors in Screven County while serving their needs.

In 1976, Bethea made a vow to her Heavenly Father Jehovah and was baptized. Despite challenges with her health, Bethea remained faithful to her dedication, serving with the Sylvania Congregation as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Throughout her life, she was active in sharing the Good News about the coming of God's Kingdom. At the Christian meetings she attended regularly with her husband Henry, her comments were always positive and encouraging.  Her fashion sense and colorful flair always brightened the congregations and conventions she attended.

In her own words

“…my dear friends, just thinking of you as usual. Now more than ever before we need Jehovah and our spouses, so we continue to do everything we can to take care of them and let them know we love them.  Try to have a happy day despite the obstacles. Love Bea & Henry”

June 20, 1978, Bea made her second most important vow in her life, her Marriage Vow to Henry Ernest Mobley.  She looked to examples of couples mentioned in the Bible that loved each other and worked together in good times and during trials.  Examples such as: Abraham & Sarah, Isaac & Rebekah, Aquila & Priscilla. (Gen 17: 15, 16; Gen 24:67; Acts 18:26) Henry & Bethea learned from these examples of faith and love. They were always together.  Bethea loved and cared for “Her Henry” and she said it not only in her heart but also publicly by her words and actions.  She knew how much Henry loved her and took care of all her needs. How deeply her devoted husband, “Her Henry”, will miss her.

Bethea is survived by her dearly loved son, Henry Austin Mobley, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Anyone who knew Bethea knew she was a most attentive and caring Mom.  The bond Austin shared with his Mom cannot be duplicated… only treasured.

Her son and daughter, Sayedwayne “Trey” and April Cosby, Victorville, CA, will share cherished memories.  Her “happy blessings”, that never wanted their visits to end, her grandchildren, Trekevia Cosby Atlanta Ga, Trequan Cosby Huntington Beach CA, Isaiah Cosby, Treyson Cosby, Tianna Cosby, Samaya Hughes, Janiya Hughes and
Jake Cosby Victorville CA, will hold on to the good memories they made.

In her own words

“…we’re having a wonderful time [in California]. The scene is so beautiful, the sun shining and looking over the snowcapped mountains, its breath taking!!! Love Bea & Henry”

While Bethea’s father, Archie Lee Coles preceded her in death, she is survived by her loving and kind Mother, Louise Morgan Coles, Statesboro, GA. Each week she visited her Mom to share spiritual nourishment with her, no doubt reminding her that decades earlier she shared spiritual truth with her daughter.  She leaves treasured memories for her big sister, Chiquita Coles Wilkins, Sylvania, GA and her baby sister Annlyn Coles (James) Williams, Savannah, GA.   Brothers and sisters gained by marriage who will also miss her are Betty Allen and Jimmy Dell Conyers, Atlanta, GA, Roosevelt (Ivory) Mobley Sr., George (deceased) Jane Ann Mobley, Johnnie Givens (deceased), Sandra Mobley (deceased) LB Pinkney , Barbara (Harry) Albright, Cathy Mobley, Donnie (deceased) Arriline Mobley, all of Sylvania. GA.

Her Aunt Pauline Wilkins (Henry deceased), Savannah, GA will miss her visits.  Her Aunt Linda (Antonio) Martinez, New Brunswick, New Jersey, will miss making her regular phone calls to Bea to keep up with all family members. Many other Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and cousins will miss her. Her Special “Aunt Liz”, Elizabeth Kittles, will miss her calls to share spiritual gems with her regularly.   In addition, her “Spiritual Mom” Jane Wright will long for her phone calls and visits to check on her. Bea’s entire spiritual family and special friends will yearn for the time when we will have her with us again, when all is new. -  Job 14:15, Revelation 21:3, 4
