MR CECIL LEE ATKINS, 83, was born on June 18, 1940, the son of the late Mr. Albert, Sr., and Mrs. Lillie Mae Jesup Atkins in Screven County, GA.
Mr. Cecil attended the public schools of Screven County. Mr. Atkins was first employed in the construction industry. He completed 32 years of service as a maintenance technician with the Screven County Board of Education at his retirement.
Mr. Atkins was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Ms. Lizzie Mae Ellison in 1965, lasting 60 years. To this beloved union two children were born.
Although Mr. Atkins was not officially associated with any church or religious denomination, he did believe in God. Periodically, he attended the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with his wife, and he always welcomed friends who would visit with him and talk about the Bible.
On Sunday evening February 04, 2024, Mr. Cecil Lee Atkins departed this life peacefully at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Atkins will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, and friend to the community. We will always carry his memory within our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, (4) Brothers: Albert (Geraldine) Atkins, Jr., Andrew (Robbie Lee) Atkins, Ernest (Hattie) Atkins, and John Henry Atkins all of Sylvania, GA; and (2) Sisters: Betty Jean (Eugene) Robbins and Mae (Robert) Pinkney.
Fond and Loving memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife: Mrs. Lizzie Mae Ellison Atkins; (2) Children: their son: Shelton Atkins, and their daughter: Miranda Atkins; (2) Brothers: Jessie Atkins and Freddie (Emma Lee) Atkins along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and sorrowing friends.
