Mr. Charlie Lee Young
(September 28, 1953 - September 03, 2022)
Charlie L. Young, was born in Screven County on September 28, 1953 to the late Deacon Shelly and Mrs. Lizzie Mae Lovett Young. He attended the public schools of Screven County and graduated with the SCHS Class of 1972. At an early age, Charlie joined the Simmons Branch Missionary Baptist Church and later throughout his faithful years of dedication to the ministry accepted the appointment as a Deacon.
On October 19, 1984, he married the love of his life, Mrs. Jessie Roberts Young. From this union a son, 2 daughters, and an adopted daughter was raised. After Charlie’s high school graduation, he began his career as a farmer alongside his father, to becoming a dedicated employee to Koyo Bearings. Charlie then retired after 35 years of service to Koyo in 2016, due to his decline in health.
Charlie was proceeded in death by his parents, Shelly and Lizzie Mae Young, 2 brothers and a sister who passed at an early age and his loving grandmother, Mrs. Kizzie Young.
On Saturday night, September 3, 2022, Deacon Charlie Lee Young went into eternal rest to be with the Lord at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA, following an extended illness.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories; A loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Jessie Roberts Young of the home, his son, Douglas Whitehead of New Mexico City, his daughters, Sheena (Nick) Robinson of Statesboro, GA, Jessica Young of Sylvania, GA, and Alicia Williams of Detroit, MI. Five Grandchildren, Kourtnei Jackson, Statesboro, GA, Ramiyah & Zayden Perkins, Kendrick & Kinsley Benton of Sylvania, GA. A sister, Shirley Ann Brinson, 4 brothers, George (Margie) Young, Donald Young, Timothy (Christie) Young, all of Statesboro, GA, and Willie (Ernestine) Young, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. One uncle, Mike Kirkland of Pennsylvania, PA. A forever brother- in- law, Lonnie Carrie, Ernest Roberts, James (Sherry) Roberts, Martha (William) Kemp, all of Sylvania, GA. Harry Roberts of Savannah, GA, Charles Roberts of Millen, GA and Christine Stephens of Tampa, FL. Alongside a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and sorrowing friends.
