DEACON JAKE KIRKLAND, JR., 77, was born on June 17, 1944, in Sylvania (Screven County), GA, to the late Mr. Jake, SR., and Mrs. Jessie Mae Bell Kirkland. He received his education in the public schools of Screven County until the need to aid his parents became a priority.
On April 13, 1963, Jake was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Lula Mae Jackson. To this beloved union 3 children were born. He became a member of the Middle Branch Baptist Church, that later merged with the New Home Welcome Baptist Church of Sylvania, GA. There he served faithfully as the senior Deacon and followed the Church covenant until the time of his transition.
His employment included Augusta Concrete of Augusta, GA, for many years and Scott’s Logging of Sylvania, GA.
Jake’s favorite pastime was fishing, singing, and just lending a helping hand to anyone that he could. He enjoyed the many friendships he encountered and especially spending quality time with his family.
On Friday Morning November 12, 2021, Deacon Jake Kirkland, Jr., took his Heavenly transition into rest eternal at the Pineview Health and Rehabilitation Center of Sylvania, GA.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Lula Mae Jackson Kirkland, his parents, Sisters: Pauline Kirkland and Elouise Ellison, Brothers: Lucious Dero and Henry Kirkland, Sister-in-law: Willie Mae Duncan, Brothers-in-law: Charlie Duncan and Herman Johnson, and a special niece Vivian Rollins.
He leaves behind a legacy of loving memories to be cherished by (2) Sons: Deacon James (Frankie) Kirkland and Richard Kirkland, Sr.; his daughter: Vickie Robbins all of Sylvania, GA; (3) Sisters: Mary (Rick) Riley, Columbus, GA, Mary Helen (Lawrence) Scott, Savannah, GA, and Elizabeth Ingram of Sylvania, GA ; (3) Brothers: Roger (Ann) Albright and Horace Kirkland both of Sylvania GA, and Leroy Kirkland of St Petersburg, FL; (4) Grandchildren: Richard Kirkland, Jr., and Jessica Kirkland both of Newark, NJ, Jamez (Shakeirra) Kirkland, Augusta, GA and Kierra Robbins, Sylvania, GA; (3) Great Grandchildren: Zion, Kelseigh, and Kaiden; (2) Sisters-in-law: Marie Dero, Sylvania, GA, and Lottie Johnson of Bridgeport, CT, a god Sister: Lizzie McClain of Sylvania, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and sorrowing friends.
