Elisha Gordon, Jr. Obituary
On July 12, 2022, our heavenly father came to redeem the soul of Elisha Gordon, Jr. He was born November 23, 1934, in Sylvania, GA to the late Elisha Gordon, Sr. and the late Pearl Kent-Gordon.
Elisha received his education in the public school system of Screven County, GA. In 1956 he relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL and began working at Port Everglades with the International Longshoreman’s Association (ILA) Local 1526, retiring to embark in the cattle industry. Elisha was an influential being amidst many young men working alongside him.
In December 1956, he married Minnie Lee Roberts. From their union they had 6 children Diane (Gary) Scott of Grand Cayman, Raymond D. (Robin) Gordon, Elisha III (Beverly) Gordon of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Charles (Ortrene) Gordon of Atlanta, GA, James Anthony (Sybil) Gordon of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Timothy (Shondra-deceased) Gordon of Sylvania, GA.
After 55 years of marriage, Elisha’s wife Minnie Lee Gordon was called to heaven. He remarried Anna Scott (deceased-2018), as well as connected with his daughter Jackie (deceased-2019).
He leaves to cherish his memory, one sister Pearl Gordon Burns of Statesboro, GA, 6 children, 23 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his brothers: David Gordon, Douglas Gordon, Rufus Gordon, Reggie “RJ” Gordon, Hollis C. Gordon, Dennis Gordon, Charlie Gordon, and sisters: Hollistene Gordon Rilington, Milkie Juanita Gordon Burns, Evelyn Gordon, Margaret Gordon, and Little Virginia Maude Gordon. He leaves godchildren Michael Jenkins and Sharon Jackson Pedlar, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, and friends.
