Gertrude Reddy Ervin Dawson was born on May 4, 1929 to the late Luetta Nollie Jenkins Reddy and Willie Reddy, Sr. She was united in Holy Matrimony on July 10, 1948 to the late Boise Ervin. To this union, one child was conceived and unfortunately, she was stillborn. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and joined Goodwill Baptist Church. She later joined Zion Fair Baptist Church where her husband Boise Ervin was a deacon. Following the death of her husband Boise in 1962, she moved to Greenwich, Connecticut. There she was employed by the Remsons who became her family. Even after leaving Sylvania, she continued to support events at Zion Fair Baptist Church. In the early 70s, she joined in Holy Matrimony to Herman Dawson of Dunn, NC.
In 1995 she retired and returned to the home she and her husband built at 119 Arnett Street in Sylvania, GA. She also renewed her membership at Zion Fair Baptist Church and became an active member under the leadership of Reverend Jonas German. With Rose, Tosha, and Tosha's children as her caregivers, she enjoyed lots of love and laughter. As her health continued to fail, she was placed in Sylview Health Care Center until her passing on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Three siblings preceded her in death, Benjamin Reddy, Doris Warren and Willie Jr. Reddy (Minnie Ann).
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her loving and devoted sister, Ethyl D. Reddy of Cumberland, RI; a beloved sister-in-law, Sarah Reddy of Augusta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that span across generations.
