The Legacy of Life
Mr. Glenn Gordon
(February 02, 1949 – May 30, 2022)
Glenn Gordon was born in Sylvania, Georgia on February 2, 1949, to the late David and Effie Mae Gordon. He was an adventurous child known to be a bit mischievous. Early on he had a love of toy trucks and at the age of 4, he proclaimed he would one day become a truck driver.
He graduated from Central High School and later married Jacqueline Williams Small. They moved to Atlanta, GA, where they raised their three children, Joseph, Chanda and Shenard. Glenn spent the majority of his career at Winn Dixie where he was able to live out his childhood dream of becoming a truck driver, a profession he passionately performed for 25 years. Glenn also enjoyed tinkering with lawnmowers and other outdoor power tools, a hobby he eventually transitioned into an equipment repair business he ran from his backyard. Prior to his illness, you could often find Glenn at Waffle House. He loved the food and the family-like camaraderie shared with servers and customers alike, all of whom were drawn to his infectious personality and witty sense of humor.
Glenn entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 30, 2022, in Fairburn, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Effie Mae Gordon; two sisters, Gaynita Mercer and Lottie Neely; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Gordon and Karen Williams; and one brother-in-law, Walter Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Joseph Small (LaVonna) of Covington, GA; Chanda Washington (Darryl) of Mableton, GA; Shenard Gordon (Renita) of Canfield, OH; eleven grandchildren, Dominic, Iesha, Tanisha, Michael, Ashley, Tamil, Jalyn, Lamia, Quinten, Avery and Aiden; five great grandchildren, Madison, Jerimiah, Makenzy, Haiden and Ariya; one sister, Lynette Roberts (Jonathan) of Sylvania, GA; one brother, Millard Gordon of Miami, FL; one aunt, Pearl Burns of Statesboro, GA; and one uncle, Elisha Gordon of Sylvania, GA. Glenn also treasured two special friends, Sammy Stembridge and Robert Foreman, both of Atlanta, GA, and a host of other friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
