The Legacy of Life
Governor Williams was born on October 31, 1932 in Savannah, Ga to the late Doc Williams and Rosa Mae Howard. Governor made his transition on May 7, 2022 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA.
At an early age he was a member of Ditch Pond Baptist Church. Governor attended the public schools of Sylvania, Ga.
He left Sylvania, Ga and moved to New York City where he was a construction worker for 50 years with Local 79 Union. He retired as a construction worker and moved back to Sylvania in 1995. After returning to Sylvania, Ga he joined Believer’s Church.
Governor enjoyed watching sports, westerns and the news. He also enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and going to their sporting events.
Governor was predeceased by his brothers, Levan Roundtree, Robert Williams, Bob E. Williams, and Arnold Williams.
His memories will forever be cherished by his loving children Martha Vinson Shivers, Darnell Williams, Keith (Sherry) Williams, Joey Williams, Kisha Jones, Desire Moore, and special son Jeffery (Maria)Jackson as well as his siblings Juanita Williams, James (Terethea) Howard, and sister- in-law Betty Williams; he also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
