In Loving Memory
Mr. Guwan “Billy” Tillman
July 22, 1948 – June 08, 2023
Mr. Guwan “Billy” Tillman, 74, on July 22, 1948, the oldest of five children, to the late Ezel Ealy Tillman in Sylvania (Screven County), GA. Billy was lovingly raised by his grandparents the late Lovett and Florria Roberts where he spent his formative years helping them on their farm in Sylvania, GA. Upon graduating Central High School in 1966, he relocated to Brooklyn, NY, where he served with the United States Postal Service for 36 years. He also met his wife of 29 years Mrs. Juanita Jones Tillman. Together they shared a life of faith, love, travel, and music. To this beloved union was also Bill’s loving stepdaughter Tiffani Smith. He and his wife relocated to Fairburn, GA for 16 years and finally relocated to Wynnewood, PA where they resided until he spent his final days surrounded by his loving wife, stepdaughter and soon to be son-in-law Dele Faly.
A devout Child of God, Billy served as an usher at Little Zion Church of God in Christ of Freeport, NY as well as at Body of Christ International in College Park, GA. He was very supportive of his church and loved singing along to hymns as well as participating in other various areas of service.
His welcoming spirit made anyone feel comfortable to have graced his presence. He loved cycling throughout New York City taking photographs along the way. His love of music could be heard resounding from his radio and his car. He along with his wife attended many concerts from Grants Tomb in New York to the Caribbean taking in the sounds of their favorite artists anywhere from Blues to Gospel, to Jazz. Bill’s laugh was infectious. His love of story telling from sharing memories of moving to New York to times shared with family and friends will be remembered most by those who loved him. His attention to detail and his tone would have you in tears from laughter, no matter how many times you heard the same story! Billy lived a simple yet purposeful and fulfilling life. He embraced every day and every opportunity whether fishing with his nephew Sammy at the local lake, watching his favorite New York Giants, or just talking on the phone with family and friends. No one was too insignificant for Bill to spark a conversation with. He was truly one of the nicest men you could ever meet, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. As he would say, “I had a good run and I’ll see you further on down the road.”
On Thursday June 08, 2023, Mr. Guwan “Billy” Tillman, made his final transition from earth to eternity at the Lankenau Medical Center of Wynnewood, PA.
He was preceded in death by his sister Doris Woodhall.
