Harry Parker Obituary

Celebrating Life

Harry James Parker

February 24, 1954 – November 15, 2024

Harry James Parker passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024.

He was born in Jenkins County Hospital on February 24, 1954, to the late Oscar and Grace Parker.  He was raised in Rocky Ford, Georgia. Harry is a Class of 1972 graduate of Screven County High School. At an early age, he accepted Christ and joined Parker Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board.  Before his health failed, and retirement, Harry was a dedicated employee of Sylvania Yarn System (SYS) in Sylvania, Ga for over 30 years. He began working there when he was in the 11th grade.

Harry was a loving husband, dedicated father, and compassionate brother. He will be deeply missed by many family members, friends, and all who knew him. He had a kind and warm spirit that was felt by all. He had a heart of gold that would welcome anyone he encountered with his affectious smile. Harry had a passion and true spirit for being a Georgia Bulldogs' fan. He had that same excitement for Nascar Racing as well. When he wasn’t caught up in the roar of the crowd for football and racing, or being a hard-working family man that he's known for, you could find him at peace on the water, fishing on the weekends with patience and skill.

Harry was preceded in death by both parents, Oscar and Grace Parker; his son, Jermaine Carlos "Chip" Parker; brothers Larry Parker (twin), and Douglas “Spookie” Parker; his brothers-in-law, George Lee and Ernest Daughtry; and a nephew, Ricardo Daughtry.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted wife Ethel M. Parker of Rocky Ford, GA; his daughter Dianna Michelle (Sherwin) Joyner of Hampton, SC; a daughter-in-law, Yoko S. Parker of Savannah, GA; three grandsons: Elijah D. Jones, Isaiah T. Joyner of Hampton, SC, and Yokhorian S. Parker "Khori" (Savannah, GA); one sister, Carletha Lee and one brother, Nathan Parker (both of Rocky Ford, GA); five brother- in-laws, Clinton Daughtry, Jr. (Lavern), and Ezekial Daughtry (Renia) both of Fort Pierce, FL, Curtis Daughtry (Meiann) of Millen, GA, Richard Daughtry and Jeff Daughtry (Trell) both of Sylvania, GA; four sisters-in-law,  Ruthie Lee Robbins (Rev. Uley) and Denise Simmons (Terry) both of Sylvania, GA, Eula Lee Godbee and Willie Lee Mingle both of Augusta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
