Hosea Roundtree, departed from this world on October 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and joy. Born on May 24, 1946, in Savannah, Georgia, Hosea’s life was one filled with remarkable achievements and unfaltering love for his family and friends.
Throughout his illustrious career, Hosea touched countless lives through various roles and endeavors. He devoted 15 years of his service to the City of New York. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his professional life as he selflessly served his church at Dalton Missionary Baptist Church.
A man of many talents and passions, Hosea was known for exceptional culinary skills, fishing, witty sense of humor, and vibrant presence at every gathering. His love for music shone through his dancing at every event, bringing joy to those around him.
In every aspect of his being, Hosea exuded warmth and kindness. His beloved wife, who preceded him in death, Willa Berry held a special place in his heart, alongside his treasured daughters, Teressa Scott Corley and Essence Artesa Hubert, along with sons-in-laws, Randall Corley and Anthony Hubert. The arrival of his grandchildren, Ashley Scott, Diona Monshell Wisher, Donyae Marciele Wisher, and his great grands, Raymond Alexander Escobar and Ruby Alexandria Escobar brought immeasurable joy to Hosea’s life.
While we mourn the loss of Hosea Roundtree, we find solace in the memories he created and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members including his daughters, Teressa (Randall) Corley of Sylvania, GA, and Essence (Anthony) Hubert, of Atlanta , GA; his grandchildren, Ashley Scott, Diona Wisher, and Donyae Wisher; his great grands, Raymond Escobar and Ruby Escobar; his brothers, Dea. James (Alma) Roundtree, San Antonio, Texas, Eddie L. Roundtree, Statesboro, GA, Irvin Jackson, Sylvania, GA, Charles (Lynn) Roundtree, Columbus, GA, and Rev. Lefonza (Jeanette) Roundtree, Statesboro, GA; his sisters, Rev. Alzata Reid, Sylvania, GA, Mary (Billy) Shipmon, and Rosemary Young both of Statesboro, GA; One aunt, Minnie Lee Cooper, Jacksonville, FL; one uncle, Hosea Jones, Swainsboro, GA; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
