James Jackson Obituary

“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:3
KJV
As we remember and celebrate the incredible person that God blessed us with and the
lasting impact on our lives, we bless God for the person of James Calvin Jackson.
James Calvin Jackson affectionately known as, “J.C.”, was born January 12, 1957 in
Jenkins County, GA, to Mrs. Lelia Bland Jackson and the late John W. Jackson. The
family resided in Perkins, GA and eventually relocated to Screven County, GA. Upon
moving to Screven County, J.C. attended school at Southside Elementary, Central
Middle and graduated from Screven County High School, Class of 1975. As a child, he
accepted Christ, was baptized and joined Dickey Grove Baptist Church. Being raised in
a Godly and strict home, he was expected to attend and behave in church, complete his
chores, make good grades and respect everyone. As a child J.C. and his brother
Ulysses would always receive a guitar for Christmas. This gift was the beginning of their
love of making melodies unto the Lord with stringed instruments (Psalm 33:2).
Upon graduating from high school, J.C. blessed many worshippers with his gift of music.
He played guitar for The Bells of Joy, The Gospel Sons of Faith, Salvation and many
other quartet groups. At the time if his transition he was the guitarist for the Screven
County Male Chorus, The Emancipation Choir and The New Robbins Branch Church
Choirs.
As an adult, J.C. was a hard worker and was employed by BASF, King Finishing, and
Milliken out of Sylvania, GA. J.C. had many co-workers whom he called friends. He
worked in Shipping and Receiving as Supervisor, after his retirement in 2022, he felt
blessed to work at Sampson Cheesesteak which allowed him to witness about the
goodness of the Lord. J.C. was very particular about his appearance and his manners
toward everyone.
At the time of his departure, he was his mother’s primary caregiver.
On February 01, 2025, Brother James Calvin “J.C.” Jackson, answered the summon to
eternal life by the Almighty completing his earthly chapter of this life at his residence in
Sylvania, GA.
Preceding J.C. in death are his wife, Karen Wright-Jackson, his sisters, Sylvia Lee
