In Loving Memory
Of the Late
Mrs. Julia Williams Nelson
May 21, 1984 – January 29, 2025
Cherished educator - Devoted spouse - Loving mother - Steadfast believer in God
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julia W.
Nelson. She departed this earth on Wednesday January 29, 2025, to rest in the arms of her Savior. She was a cherished educator, devoted spouse, loving
mother, and steadfast believer in God. Julia went through the Screven
County School System, where she was a 2002 graduate who lettered in the
band. She loved being a part of the band and was excited that she shared that
love with her daughter. After high school, she then went on to Georgia
Southern University where she graduated with honors with both a
Bachelor’s and master’s degree. Julia began teaching at Screven County Elementary School in 2007, where she was nominated teacher of the year
early on in her career for two years in a row, was selected for a hero award
during COVID-19, and was named an instructional star in the 2023-24
school year. Julia dedicated 18 years to inspiring and shaping the minds of
countless students at Screven County Elementary School, leaving an
indelible mark on her community and the hearts of all who knew her. Julia
joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Sunday
school teacher for a while. More recently, she had been fellowshipping with
Greater Bethel AME church frequently, where all three of her children
decided to follow Jesus and be baptized. Julia also felt led to lead a non-
profit organization called One Community Under God that held projects a
few times a year to assist Screven County youth in need.

inspire and uplift others.
**Faith and Beliefs**
A woman of strong religious conviction, Julia found solace and strength in
her deep belief in God. Her faith guided her through life’s challenges and
was a source of inspiration for everyone around her. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by her will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and find comfort in each other’s company.

Julia’s legacy as an educator, a devoted family member, and a person of
deep faith will forever remain in our hearts. However, she is no longer with

the privilege of knowing her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
