Sylvia Ann Roberts was born July 17, 1956 to the late Jessie Mae Roberts in Sylvania, Georgia. She transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Augusta University Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia.
Sylvia attended the public schools of Screven County and was a graduate of Screven County High School Class of 1975. She was an outstanding athlete and was crowned Homecoming Queen in 1975.
After high school, Sylvia attended Paine College and furthered her career in the medical field as a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant and Private Duty Caregiver until she was called to glory. She was a faithful member of St. Andrews and Horse Creek United Methodist Churches where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, Lay Speaker, Sunday School Teacher, former United Methodist Women President and on numerous boards and in various choirs within the community. She was an active member of Beulah Chapter 116, Order of the Eastern Stars. Sylvia also participated in charitable organization such as Elijah’s Promise and the Soup Kitchen.
In addition to her mother, Jessie Mae Roberts, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Roberts and a sister, Diane Roberts.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: Her daughters, Shanta Roberts, Latasha Roberts, and Keisha Roberts; her son, Trent Roberts; her grandchildren, Phar-I Merchant, Phi-Jah Merchant, Leah Cooper and Laila Cooper; her sister, Valerie Simmons; her brothers, Timothy Roberts and Tony Roberts; her uncle, Milton Roberts; her aunts, Alberta Roberts, Edith Williams, Hanson Hicks and Jerry Stephens; she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sylvia was a dedicated and loving mother whose love extended pass her own family. She will forever be greatly missed.
