The Legacy of His Life
Vance Sherman Lawton
October 18, 1954 – August 19, 2025
Vance Sherman Lawton, 70, was born on October 18, 1954, in Sylvania, Georgia, to the late Archie Lee Lawton, Sr. and lola Kelly Lawton.
Vance accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age at Lawton Grove Baptist Church, where he later served faithfully as President of the Trustee Board. He graduated from Screven County High School, Class of 1972, and went on to briefly attend Savannah Technical School.
Vance was employed at BASF for many years before stepping out on his own to establish Lawton Construction Company. As a self-employed contractor for over three decades, he made a lasting impact on his community. His craftsmanship could be seen in countless structures across the CSRA-residential homes, churches, and commercial buildings alike-leaving behind a legacy built with his own hands.
