Mr. William Thomas “Bernard” Hatcher, Jr. was born June 23, 1967 in Dade County, Florida to Frances Smith Hatcher and the late William T. “Albert” Hatcher. After his birth, Bernard was given to his grandparents, the late Mina Mae and Orenza “Boo” Hatcher. On June 22, 2021 God called Bernard home to rest.
He received his formal education in the Screven County School System and was a member of Beech Branch Baptist Church. Bernard was employed at Moats IGA for many years as a meat cutter. He was a very kind hearted person with a joyful spirit and was better known as “Hatch” or “Hatchett.”
In addition to his father and grandparents, Bernard was also predeceased by five brothers, John Hatcher, Bustard Hatcher, Willie Mack, Roger Moore and Henry Moore.
Bernard leaves fond memories to be cherished: Two daughters, Markeyla Hatcher of Bamberg, SC and Tawanda Hatcher of Jacksonville, FL; one grandson, Antoine White, Jr; two granddaughters, Li’Ari Archer and Alanna Hatcher all of Jacksonville, FL; his mother, Frances Smith Hatcher of Sylvania, GA; two sisters, Donna Hatcher and Susie Hatcher both of Sylvania, two brothers, Alfie Hatcher (Kim) and Willie Hatcher both of Sylvania, GA; a devoted niece, Yoshico Young-Albright; an aunt, Johnnie Mae Jackson (Archie); two uncles, Jessie Burney and John Burney(Teresa); best friend, Eddie Wells; and a host of nieces, nephews other relative and friends.
