Mrs. Willie Mae Johnson Drayton
February 22, 1936 – April 29, 2023
Willie Mae Johnson Drayton was born February 22, 1936 to the late Rella Ingram Johnson and Lucious Johnson in Millhaven, GA. On April 29, 2023 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, Statesboro, GA, the matriarch of our family was called home to rest.
Willie Mae attended the Public School System of Screven County. She was employed for many years at Lee’s Laundry, Sylview Health Care and later at BASF of Sylvania, GA. At an early age she joined Comer Grove Baptist Church and later she joined Freewill Baptist Church. Willie Mae was united in marriage to the late Willie E. Drayton in the early 1980’s.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a sister, Zelma Southward, a brother, Willie James Johnson and her son-in-law Walter Williams, Jr.
She leaves to cherish fond memories to her daughters, Carolyn Johnson Williams and Stephanie White both of Statesboro, GA; her son, Bernard White of Atlanta, GA; her brother, Henry Cooper of Atlanta, GA; her sister-in-law, Jessie Johnson of Sylvania, GA; her grandchildren Carlos L. Johnson (Amanda) of Sylvania, GA, Anthony L. Johnson (Brenda) of Twin City, GA, Tambi W. Johnson (Quincy) of Statesboro, GA, and Dranreb D. White of Atlanta, GA; fourteen great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
