Winnie Lou Jones

Today, we come to celebrate the home going of this wonderful and blessed Woman of God, from Earth to Glory.

Winnie Lou Jones, as born April 9, 1919, in Screven County, Georgia, on April 9, 1919.

She was the fourth child of the late Charles C. Calvin and Lottie L. Lewis and the stepdaughter of the late Kate Lewis, who sweetly slepted away on June 15th, 2022.

Winnie attended and graduated from the Robin Branch School of Sylvania Georgia.

In 1941, Winnie met the love of her life, the late Titus (Pig) Jones, of which she married on February 8th of 1941.

In the year 1943, Winnie and her husband Titus, as their family grew, the choice was made to migrated to New York, were she worked as a dedicated domestic engineer for a short period of time.

In  the year 1945, after migrating to New York, she united with Mt Lebanon Baptist Church where she served faithfully as President of the Gospel Chorus, President of the Pastor Aide Ministry Vice President of Missionary Board, and the Deaconess Board, under the leadership of the late, Rev H.S. McNeill.

In the year 1976, the family relocated to the Bronx, where she moved her church membership to Goodwill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Booker T. Sears, Jr, and served on Deaconess Board, and a member of the Gospel Chorus. 

Winnie loved to sing, we could hear her singing around the house as she completed her daily chores, but most of all, Winnie had a gracious heart of love for all who came to her home.  She opened her doors to anyone who needed a place to stay. She was known as a loving babysitter for all who needed her. Winnie was affectionally called by all “MA”.

Edwin Jones (Deceased) Sister, Rose Lewis, Preceded in Death- Claudia Thomas, Nellie Lewis, Viola Smith, Johnnie Bell Mercer; Brother, Calvin Lewis, Preceded in Death- Carl Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Robert Lewis, Grandchildren – Kenneth (Joan), Russell, (Brie), L’Tonya Jones (Mark), Eddie Jones, Jennifer Jones, Dessie Jones.

10 - Great Grand Children; 18 Great-Great Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.
